IE expo China is a leading trade fair for environmental technologies in Asia and the second largest in the world, ranking only behind IFAT Munich in Germany. In 2024, the event hosted 2,457 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions, covering 193,000 square meters across all 17 exhibition halls. The fair attracted more than 90,120 professional buyers from 75 countries, solidifying its role as a key platform for driving the high-quality development of the environmental sector.
In line with China's Double Carbon' goals, the upcoming edition will continue to focus on critical topics such as the circular economy and the growing demand for green technologies.
The 26th edition of IE expo China will be held from April 21 to 23, 2025, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). With expectations of increased participation from both exhibitors and visitors, it promises to be an even more influential event for the industry.

IE expo 2013 featured its biggest ever supporting program, supported by the Chinese Society of Environmental Science (CSES), the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and further government ministries and associations from China and abroad. More than 200 high-caliber speakers provided comprehensive and informative lectures on the environmental markets in China for over 3,900 delegates. Dr. Helge Wendenburg, Director-General of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety observed: “We were completely surprised by the huge interest of IE expo visitors in our projects. The interest was so high that we even ran out of our brochures after the first day. IE expo is indeed the platform in China and Asia for experts and decision-makers regarding innovations and solutions in the environmental field.” Dr. Hans G. Huber, Chairman of Huber Technology added: “No other environmental show in China can compete with IE expo.”
l Technical-Scientific Conference Program co-organized by College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University, German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and the National Engineering Research Center for Urban Pollution Control (NERC): Environmental experts will hold lectures and workshops that focus on the key topics of water, sewage, solid waste, renewable energy and air-pollution control.
l Exhibitor Presentations: Exhibiting companies present their solutions, products and services. These concise presentations are attended by a large, interested trade audience – the perfect meeting place to establish new contacts and convince potential business partners.
